WordFest
WordFest is a new, performance-based, English speaking festival in Bucharest.
English focused schools choose their finest students to compete in six different categories: Group Acting, Individual Acting, Impromptu Speaking, Poetry, Storytelling, and Persuasive Speaking. The event is held every year at the end of November. WordFest is organized by a Board of Directors: each participating school provides one teacher to be on the Board. WordFest is not a single school sponsored event. Instead, it is run as a combined project. The main goal of WordFest is simple: to have a well organized, transparent event that provides a supportive framework for assessment and creative student growth in the performing arts. The social aspect of WordFest is just as essential. Students from the various schools are encouraged to meet their peers, exchange ideas, participate in workshops, and attend the closing ceremony party. Currently, there are a total of four schools. As the event grows, so will its size; but for now, and into the future, quality is more important than quantity. The age groups eligible to participate are 8-11 and 12-15. |
