Individual
Acting
Time: 3-4 minutes
The foundation of Individual Acting is the use of monologues. The participant should use facial expressions, gestures, and their voice to create a dramatic moment that develops within the given time limit. The audience can be addressed, but only in a limited manner. All dialogue should be in English. The scene/monologue may be organized so that the participant plays several characters. Published plays, scripts, and radio dramas will be the main focus. However, students may also adapt their own scripts from other materials: poems, song lyrics, speeches, prose, etc. Students may also choose to write their scripts. |

Judging
Judging an acting performance is a subtle art form. The judges watch, listen, and analyze their way through the performance and ask themselves at the end, "How did it make me feel?"
